Reenactment of the Battle of Borodino
- City : Moscow
- Duration : 10 h
Like every year, the first Sunday of September is the day during which Russia celebrates the battle of Borodino. Tens of thousands of people gather on the former battlefield in order to reenact this key moment of the Russian history.
We will meet a little bit before 8:30 AM at the “Parc Pobedy” metro station (see the map for more information) and then, will leave for Borodino, wide battlefield on which fought both the Napoleonic army trying to reach Moscow, and the Imperial Russian troops ardently defending their Patriotic land.
This historically important spot, nowadays known for being quiet and bucolic, hosts every year a gigantic historical reenactment. Military enthusiasts from all fields (grenadiers, artillerymen, hussars, cuirassiers…) got ready for several days.
The celebration usually starts with a ceremony in honor of all the soldiers and heroes who fought in 1812. A gigantic reconstitution follows with different phases of the battle of Borodino in the western part of the village. Thousands of military enthusiasts will reenactment this big battle and its different technical improvements by the sound of the cannons. In the end you will take part in the military parade and attend the bravery awards ceremony for the soldiers who fought during the reconstitution of the battle.
After this dive into History, you will leave the Borodino estate around 7 PM for Moscow.
